Dear Lord

Those basses... blew. my. mind. Please tell me you're making a full version!
Skrillex has nothin on you :o seriously.

The only criticism I have is that I don't think the snare is loud enough and punchy enough. Other than that, this is sick.

Rig responds:

A full version is coming this week for the NGADM! :D

Nice!

Nice job on this! I think the vocals could be turned up more. Other than that, good song.

GamekrazzyProduction responds:

thanks...

So Sick!!!

This track is beyond filthy man. The drums are beefy and the reese is so twisted and nasty. I'd say that this would be label worthy if it we're for the sub-par mixing and lack of any kind of buildup.

Mixing wise, the mids sound a bit muddy and treble is a bit lacking. Maybe you could make the reese sound more stereo (via panning or something similar) instead of mono, which it is currently. I think that would give it more presence and make it sound even more badass. Also, the drums need needs to be tighter. They are quite beefy, but if you increase the treble on the snare and raise the volume of the hihats, they'll sound much better. The kick sounds good, though.

Structure wise, it seems to jump right into the heavy stuff without any kind of buildup. It sounds like :38 is the drop, so I'd suggest you leave out the drums and reese until the drop (or at least highpass them) and right before the drop, I'd focus on adding a buildup, like a long reversed cymbal, a sound rising in pitch, and/or something like that to make the drop more brutal.
I like the creepy vibe in the intro, though. It adds a lot to the track.
However, there isn't much of an outro. It sounds like you left off the ending or something. It just doesn't feel complete. Even if it's something similar to the intro, it'd still be better than no ending at all.

Well, hope this helps. Normally, I don't give long, detailed reviews like this, but you deserve it. You have insane talent man, so keep it up!

SteakJohnson responds:

thanks for the long review! yea most of my weakness lies in eqing/mixing/mastering stuff... (probably bcuz all a 16yr old can afford is damn skullcandy headphones)

Planning on getting monitors... hopefully soon lol.

Yay Free Samples!

Thanks for da samples Rig. They sound badass. like some fucked up robot

Just curious, how did you make em? and in what program?

Rig responds:

The original sound source is a pair of nail clippers and an Allen wrench, actually. I recorded them getting hit together and such, then I did some speed/granulation effects and ran it through a special vocoder patch.

This was all done with FL Studio and Edison.

Pretty cool!

I liked this. The vocals were a nice touch. They added to the mood. I really like the melody(s). The drums a good, especially the hi-hat. However, I do have criticism. Personally, I think it's way too short. Maybe you could add a breakdown to bring out the melodies a bit more and introduce some new elements like a new lead and/or a baseline. Then bring the drums back in with the new elements.
Also, I think it lacked bass. Maybe a reese or a simple sine sub.
Overall, it's a cool tune. I agree with you that it could swing either way in the death match. Good luck!

length was something i was having a hard time in with this one, and i was running short on time, and i rarely get time to work

WOW!

I'm blown away by this song! It's so professional sounding. You have a great voice. It fit's perfectly with the music. I love the sound of the piano. The delay and reverb and other effects add a lot to it. All of the instruments fit together and sound good. It's well mixed and mastered.

My only critique is that I think you could add more to the drums than just a kick. Maybe you could start out with a kick and then add more to the drums as the song progresses.

Other than that, I can't find anything wrong with the song. Great job on this! :)

fishfood2021 responds:

Thanks homie! :D I think I remixed one of your songs way back when.. Techno Boogie? One of my favorites :).

It's pretty good

I like it. It's got a good feel to it. However, the progression needs a little work. imo, it all kind of came together at around 1:52, but then it ended too quickly. I feel that the middle section was drawn out a bit too much. So, my advice is to shorten the middle section and focus more on the last section.
Also, the bass sounded a little too loud in the mix. I would lower the volume on it a bit.
I like the way you switched up the drum sounds slightly throughout the song.
I haven't played this game but from what I hear you did it justice. It definitely has a video game vibe.

If you don't mind could you review and rate my newest song, Salvation? Thanks

Box-Killa responds:

yeah it did end a bit quick but that is how it ends originally so...

I will try review some of your stuff :D

Love It!

Out of all the amazing dubstep you submitted for the contest, this is my favorite. I love the atmosphere. It's got an eerie yet soothing vibe to it. You definitely nailed the middle-eastern sound. I love all the samples. They fit perfectly. I can't get enough of that sidechained sample of some middle-eastern instrument. Where did you get it?
Anyway, I would say that you could've added some more to it, like the drums, more instruments, more pronounced bass (more than just a sub), stuff like that. However, I do realize that, as you said in your response to the review below, you want to keep the deep vibes and I'm cool with that. I understand what you mean. So, whenever you're in this kind of mood again, please make another track! lol
You have major talent man! 5/5 10/10 faved dled

thecokebitch responds:

Haha dude... Way tooo much praise! Thanks anyway tho :P

As for that side-chained middle eastern instrument, its acually some middle-eastern girl singing... I just sliced it up, layered effects onto it, and yeah... haha

But yeah, i'd love to make this track progress, and turn it into a full length tune - but i dont really know where to go from here... (i'll end up posting it here if i do)

anyways,
Cheers for the awsome review!

Nice!

Man you've really got Dub nailed down! I like the beat. The bass is awesome! Dirty, bassy, and kickass. My only criticism is that it gets kind of repetitive.

Overall, great tetris dub remix! 5/5 10/10 dled

thecokebitch responds:

Cheers for the review man!

This song is really just a 16 bar loop i expanded through copy and paste (hence the reptition :P)
I am still working on it though, and when i rekon thats its good enough to play out - i'll edit this submission and chuck the new version over the existing...

WOW!!!

I listened to all 3 parts and dude this is amazing! Professional grade stuff here. You should think about getting this signed. I really appreciate you splitting up into parts and upping the bitrate/quality. It sounds so much better. I'm picky when comes to the bitrate. lol
I really like the feel to it. It's laid back, deep, and emotional but powerful, kickass, and well... Euphoric. The beat is great especially the big and booming kick. The lead saw is huge and very well done. btw, what plugin do you use for reverb? cause the reverb in this is awesome. I just got the free plugin Ambiance and love it. but I'd be interested to know what you use.
again, amazing track! I'm goin' to download all 3 :)
5/5 10/10 faved (all 3)

Kazmo responds:

I just use the Reverb 2 plugin that comes with FL8 :P

I'm picky with bitrate too lol :P

Yayyyyy dls :3

Thanks for the review and support! :D
